So many marriages end in divorce today that we are keeping divorce attorneys in business. What some of you may not realize is, you may not even need the services of a divorce attorney to get you through the process. Sure you will need to have the legal papers signed but if you and your ex can agree and make arrangements on your own, you do not need to waste your hard earned money on a divorce attorney.

If you and your spouse are splitting because you maybe were too young when you got married and you are two totally different people than you were when you got married so long ago, you may not need to hire a divorce attorney to get you through the divorce process. It may be that you and your spouse simply do not feel more than a friendship for each other and you do not feel like a husband and a wife should. It doesn’t mean that you cannot work out all the necessary arrangements on your own just because you are getting divorced. I know many couples who have gotten divorced who are better friends now than they ever were when they were married. I still do not advocate divorce, but if you are living in a loveless home, it can be quite sad for all involved, especially the children as they watch and learn by example. I use to think that it is best to stay together for the kids sake, but realize that sometimes it is better for the children to see what a happy and loving marriage can be like vs one without any love between the two party’s. Children will often look for a marriage that closely resembles the one they grew up in, so you will want to make sure your marriage is a good one that you would be happy for your child to have one like in the future. Just a side note in case you are upset about getting a divorce, so that you may feel a little better about it.

Hiring a divorce attorney can help to make things easier for you and a little less stressful but it is not legally required for you to hire one in order to have a legal divorce.

You can go to your local department of social services to have child support payment arrangements made after you and your spouse have split. There is no need to have a divorce attorney even deal with the issue of child support if you do not want them to. Why pay someone to do things for you that you can do for yourself.
